What we do at taproot

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the use of very thin, sterile needles that are inserted into specific points on the body to promote circulation and mobilize your body's natural healing and immune responses.

Our style of acupuncture is extremely gentle and shows quick results, making your experience pain-free, relaxing, and effective.

Chinese herbs

Chinese herbal medicine is a 3500 year-old system that can be used to address a variety of ailments.

Each formula is a combination of herbs specifically designed to address you:  your unique body type, history and unique condition.

You will either go home with your own mix of granules or a prescription for a nearby Chinese herbal pharmacy.

Cupping

We use glass or plastic cups to suction the soft tissue and muscle. This boosts blood-flow and circulation, immediately relieving pain, soreness, and stiffness.

It is incredibly effective for muscle pain and soreness. Totally painless, it can leave "hickey marks " that will disappear after a few days.

Gua sha

Gua Sha, also called scraping, or the Grasston method, is a form of massage that uses jade tools.

We gently scrape the muscles to release stagnation and increase local circulation, stimulating trigger points and allowing for detoxification. Though painless, it can leave some marks that will disappear after a few days.

Moxa

We use a plant called artemisia, or mugwort, that has been rolled into cones or sticks, and let it burn within a safe distance from your skin for a few minutes.

You will feel a gentle  warmth spreading to the local area. Moxa helps relieve joint, muscle, and abdominal pain, and also boosts immunity.

Nutritional counseling

Healthy eating is the root of well-being and dietary habits can make a tremendous difference on the path to recovery.

We can show you how food is the best medicine.

By adjusting nutrition, you can increase your energy, regulate hormones, reduce inflammation, improve digestion, relieve pain, and control weight.
